Configure LDAP servers
Instead of uploading and maintaining user passwords in your Destiny patron records, you can enable patrons to log in using the passwords stored in your district's LDAP directory.
LDAP, or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, is an open standard to supply password and authentication services from a common database on the network.
To configure Destiny to use an LDAP server:
- If you are using SSL encryption, provide Destiny with a digital certificate.
Destiny supports unencrypted and SSL connections only. It does not support SASL. - Set up a primary LDAP server in Destiny. Optionally, set up a secondary LDAP server.
- Map your Destiny Patron Types to the LDAP servers.
- Add or upload the user names into your patron records in Destiny.
Note: This allows your patrons to access Destiny with their LDAP credentials.
